Be a Rockstar with the Lenticular Morph Effect

A morph is an effect that has been used in sci-fi movies forever. Think unwitting human turning into an alien, or the "Thriller" sequence where Michael Jackson turns into a werewolf.  You don't have to be in the movies to use this effect, though:

  • Rebranding?  Morph your old logo into your new logo...
  • New or Enhanced Product? Show how the new product has evolved over the years
  • DVD/Blu Ray Lenticular Covers?  Too bad the Thriller 25th anniversary already came and went... maybe a lenticular dvd cover for the 50th - anyone know the producers?  =)

How it works for lenticular is that the beginning and ending pictures are on for a set number of frames, (this depends on which lenticular lens you use). Then, our lenticular design guru's pick certain points on object A and object B to morph to/from. In the example below, these are chosen points on the outside wings of each butterfly.  Then, the programs we use (same as the movie folks) create the middle frames to create that smooth transition.
