Textures

Flat tints do not work for the lenticular medium, so we often have to add textures or patterns. Here is a before and after example of applying textures. Additional examples of Adding Texture to Flat Tints (PDF, 1087 KB).

Adding Textures to Your Art

Below is an example of adding textures to a flat image. The image on the left wouldn't be great for lenticular, since flat tints encourage ghosting. Additionally, without textures you won't see any 3D, because there are no textures (ie. elements) to play off of one another in 3D space.

How to choose Textures?

There are as many textures as you can imagine or create in Photoshop. See the pdf of Sample Background Textures (PDF, 5706 KB) for some ideas to help you get started. These examples are hi-res, so you may even pull them into your photoshop file and build around it if you'd like.
